How do you feel about health care in America? Is access to health care a reasonable expectation for the U.S. population? How would you seek to redress inequities in the present system?
This is a tough call. I do, in fact think that we should ensure proper health care for all citizens and emergency health care for all visitors. I have a serious problem though with how it is being done now. First, I question whether this is even the proper job of the government or if a series of non-government organizations or even State governments might be better suited. Second, the Federal Government lacks the right to even try, thanks to the Tenth Amendment to the US Constitution. Third, I cannot see any way to pay for this without it becoming a major tax burden and/or leading us further into debt.
So in short, I like the idea of universal health care, but the US Government should not be allowed until there is a Constitutional mandate and sufficient funding made available.
